Before your first visit

What to expect

Osteopathic care explained — what it is, how it works, and what a first visit looks like at Precision Osteopathy & Wellness.

What is osteopathy

A philosophy as much as a technique.

Osteopathy looks at how the structure of your body — your joints, muscles, and connective tissue, affects how it functions. Structural restrictions can interfere with four essential pathways in the body: nerve conduction, arterial supply, venous drainage, and lymphatic flow. When these pathways are unobstructed, the body is better able to heal and regulate itself.

With this in mind, treatment is never limited to the area of pain. A restriction in one part of the body can affect how surrounding structures move and function, making a whole-body assessment essential to understanding what's actually going on.

How it works

A full body approach.

Treatment at Precision Osteopathy & Wellness works with the connective tissue, muscles, and circulatory and nervous systems together, with the goal of freeing up restrictions that are getting in the way of normal movement and function.

Treatment is gentle and non-invasive. Techniques may include soft tissue release, gentle joint mobilization, or myofascial work, depending on what is found during the assessment. Because every body and every visit is different, no two treatment plans look exactly alike.

Your first visit

Your first appointment.

1

A conversation first

Before any hands-on work begins, we take a thorough health history, including current concerns and treatment goals. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions about the treatment process.

2

A hands-on assessment

A full assessment of posture, movement, and alignment is conducted to identify what is actually contributing to the presenting concern, not just where it is being felt.

3

Treatment, tailored to you

Using gentle manual techniques, we address the specific restrictions identified during the assessment. Every session is non-invasive and adapted to the individual.

4

A plan going forward

Following treatment, a recommended plan of care is provided based on the findings of the session.
